Welcome to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajnandgaon

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is a noble district level concept developed by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) which was rest upon a solid base of transfer of technology from laboratory to farmer's field with respect to agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, floriculture, bee keeping, mushroom cultivation, broiler farming and allied subjects.

It is an innovative science based institution which undertakes vocational training for farmers, farm women and unemployed rural youths, conducts On Farm Trials for technology assessment & refinement and Front Line Demonstration to properly demonstrate the latest agricultural technologies to the farmers as well as to the extension workers. The KVK functions on the principles of collaborative participation of subject-matter specialists, extension workers and farmers."

Mandate of KVK :

Assessment, refinement and demonstration of technology/ methodology/products.

Activities of KVK :-

On farm testing to identify the location specificity of technologies in various farming systems
Frontline demonstrations to establish production potentials of newly released technologies on farmers’ fields and provide feedback,
Training of farmers and farmwomen to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies and training of extension personnel to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development,
Work as resources and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district,
Create awareness about frontier technologies through large number of extension activities like Farmer fair, Field day, Strategic campaign, Ex-trainees meet, etc.
The seed and planting materials produce by the KVKs also be made available to the farmers.
